Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy are
the winners of "Dancing With the Stars" season 32.

Xochitl Gomez and partner Val Chmerkovskiy were crowned 'Dancing with the Stars' champions Tuesday night.

Jason Mraz and partner Daniella Karagach were runners-up and Ariana Madix and partner Pasha Pashkov finished third.

Gomez and Chmerkovskiy took home the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy in the season 32 finale Tuesday night, the first finale in "DWTS" history to feature five couples. Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach came in second.

This is Chmerkovskiy's third time winning the Mirrorball trophy. He previously won with actress and singer Rumer Willis in 2015 and gymnast Laurie Hernandez in 2016.

Goodman, a professional ballroom dancer himself before transitioning to judging, made a profound impact on all those around him, executive producer Conrad Green told USA TODAY.

"The Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy will now be lifted on 'Dancing With the Stars' like the Vince Lombardi trophy is lifted at the Super Bowl," Green said. "We wanted to make Len a permanent part of this show, to always remind people the importance he's had to 'Dancing With the Stars' and how much he meant to all of us."

Before being named head judge for "DWTS," Goodman was the head judge on Britain's "Strictly Come Dancing" for 12 years, starting with its BBC launch in 2004. He held the title of head "DWTS" judge for 31 seasons, retiring in 2022.

Goodman’s pun-filled sense of humor delivered in his cockney accent endeared him to viewers, and his wisdom and expertise made him highly respected by the ballroom contestants.

"Len always had a twinkle in his eye and a brilliant turn of phrase. He was very fair and knew what he was talking about," says Green. "The respect he brought made the show stand on its own two feet. The dancers always wanted to know what Len thought of their performance."

Earlier this season, the show's professional dancers put together a touching tribute dance for Goodman, incorporating dancers of past and present whom he mentored.

Social media personality Charli D'Amelio and her dance partner, Mark Ballas, were the season 31 champions of "Dancing with the Stars." Gabby Windey of "The Bachelorette" and Val Chmerkovskiy finished in second place and comedian Wayne Brady and Witney Carson placed third.
